Grace L. Keenan, M.D.
Board Certified in Internal Medicine

Dr. Grace Keenan was born in Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada and received her medical degree from Memorial University School of Medicine in 1985. Upon successful completion of the Internal Medicine Residency Program at St. Thomas Hospital Center in Akron, Ohio, Dr. Keenan relocated to Sterling, Virginia and began private practice in 1988. The previous sole proprietorship became Nova Medical Group, and moved from Countryside to its current Sterling location in 1991.

Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine since 1988, Dr. Keenan has served the community in a variety of capacities, as follows; Clinical Assistant Professor at Georgetown University and the University of Virginia Medical School, Affiliate Faculty at George Mason University, certified Medical Examiner for the FAA, past President of the Loudoun County Medical Society and past medical examiner for Loudoun County. Dr. Keenan is board certified in Anti-Aging Medicine by A4M.

Dr. Keenan is a member of the Loudoun County Medical Society, Civil Aviation Medical Society, American Association of Medical Review Officers, American Professional Practice Association, Medical Society of Virginia, American College of Occupational Medicine, American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, and MGMA.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Keenan enlists her patients in the process of diagnosis and treatment by careful listening and taking the time to educate and explain how to achieve maximum wellness while integrating the best of conventional and complementary medicine.

Tobey Balazs, MSN, FNP
Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Tobey received her bachelor’s in Biology with a minor in animal science from Virginia Polytechnic Institute. She became interested in Advanced Practice Nursing during her senior year, and was accepted into the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Nursing as a student of the Accelerated Second Degree Program. She graduated from the program with her bachelor’s in Nursing and her master’s in Nursing. While earning her degrees, Tobey trained as a Cardiac and Thoracic Surgical Registered Nurse at the Medical College of Virginia.

Tobey, grew up in Sterling, Virginia. Prior to joining Nova in 2006, she continued her training as a cardiovascular surgical nurse at the Winchester Medical Center, and volunteering at the Loudoun Free Clinic. Tobey is certified as a Family Health Nurse Practitioner through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International, Gamma Omega chapter.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Tobey believes in empowering patients with knowledge, establishing trusting provider-patient relationships and listening to patients with an empathetic and open mind. She believes that a multidisciplinary approach to patient care is essential to achieve the holistic healing of mind, body and spirit.

Rachel F. Bonner, MSN, FNP
Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Rachel received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the Pennsylvania State University in 1994. In May of 1999, she earned her Masters of Science in Nursing at the George Mason University in collaboration with the George Washington School of Medicine.

Rachel is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is a member of Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society. Rachel has extensive experience in the treatment of infectious diseases and the care of adults and children suffering from HIV and AIDS. She has worked in acute care settings as well as clinics for the underserved and indigent population of Northern Virginia. She joined Nova Medical Group in 2004.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Rachel believes in treating patients with compassion and respect and empowering them to make healthy decisions about their lifestyle and treatment options.

Su J. Choi, MD
Board Certified in Family Medicine

Dr. Su J. Choi was born in Seoul, South Korea. She immigrated to the Northern Virginia area with her family in 1981, and attended Herndon High School. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville, and her medical degree at West Virginia University School of Medicine, in Morgantown, West Virginia. Dr. Choi underwent three years of residency in general surgery at SUNY Buffalo, in Buffalo, New York, and three years of family medicine at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

After completing her residency in she returned to Northern Virginia and worked in private practice in Fairfax, Virginia. She has worked in Vienna and Centreville Urgent Care clinics and in Calvert Memorial Hospital’s affiliated urgent care clinics in Southern Maryland. Dr. Choi joined the Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center team in 2008.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Choi built her solo family practice to meet the standard of medical care in a personable and consistent manner. She transitioned to group practice at Nova invigorated by the integrative medical service in an efficient team environment with EMR and highly advanced technology infrastructure. She looks forward to continuing to build a caring and respectful relationship with her patients and co-workers.

Christopher Connolly, MD
Board Certified in Internal Medicine

Dr. Connolly graduated from James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia with a degree in biology. He received his medical degree from the New York Medical College of Valhalla, New York and completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Prior to his medical school training, Dr. Connolly conducted specialized research for the Department of Emergency Medicine and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. During his medical school training at New York Medical College, Dr. Connolly was granted a research fellowship and continued his research interests in the field of Gastroenterology and Infectious Disease. He joined NOVA Medical Group and NOVA Urgent Care in 1999 and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine.

Kathy Dewey, MSN, FNP
Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Kathy received her master’s degree in 1996 as a family nurse practitioner from George Mason University in collaboration with the George Washington University School of Medicine. She is certified by the American Nurse Credentialing Center.

Her experience in family practice includes diagnosis and management of chronic problem as well as acute illnesses. She also provides routine health assessment for children and adults. She has worked consistently in a suburban family practice and joined Nova Medical & Urgent Cart Center, Inc in 2007 after moving to Loudoun County.

Kathy is an active member of the board of the Northern Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Kathy believes in taking time to educate her patients, whether it is avoidance of unnecessary antibiotics or in setting goals for management of disease. She believes there is better compliance when there is an understanding relationship between the provider and the patient.

Robin L. Donald, DO
Board Certified in Family Medicine

Dr. Robin Donald was born and grew up in Memphis, TN and received her undergraduate degree in biology from Xavier University of Louisiana, New Orleans, LA. She later obtained her medical degree from Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in Pomona, CA.

After completing a Family Medicine Residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center/St Francis Hospital in Memphis, TN, she and her family relocated to the Northern Virginia area. She currently resides in Herndon, VA with her family. Dr. Donald is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians, American Medical Association, and the American Osteopathic Association.

Dr. Donald joined Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center in August, 2009. She is passionately interested in preventative medicine and women’s health.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Donald believes that being a family medicine physician commits a physician to caring for others as you would your own family. She strives for a comfortable and efficient line of communication and considers this is vital for an effective doctor –patient relationship.

Diane Fenlason, FNP
Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Diane grew up in Rochester, New York and attended Alfred University in Alfred, New York for her BSN before joining the Army Nurse Corp. After completing a tour she married, however continued with the Army as a civilian. After living in Germany for ten years she moved to Virginia to work at DeWitt Army Hospital. She received her masters from Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia and became a Family Nurse Practitioner

Diane joined Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center in 2009 and is certified through the AANP and a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Diane believes in treating the whole patient and that prevention is the cornerstone of medicine. She encourages her patients to be proactive in caring for minor medical concerns, to prevent major health issues and optimize their health.

Kanika Govil, MD
Board Certified in Family Medicine

Dr. Govil joined Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center in 2008 after completing her residency at VCU-Fairfax Family Practice. Her special interests are in Women’s Health and Preventative Medicine.

Kanika was born in Maharashtra, India and graduated from government medical college in Miraj, India. She currently lives in Ashburn with her husband and daughter, and is fluent in English, Hindi and Marathi.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Govil believes in careful listening and involving patients in decision making. Her emphasis in delivering medical care is focusing on complete health and wellness of her patients.

Camille Grosso, PhD, APRN, BC
Clinical Nurse Specialist

Dr. Grosso was born in Geneva, New York. She graduated from Willard State Hospital with a diploma in nursing. Following marriage and two children, she received an undergraduate degree in Nursing from George Mason University, a master’s degree in Nursing from Catholic University and a PhD in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University.

Dr. Grosso has experience in hospital nursing, hospital administration, and the teaching of nursing at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Since 1982, she has maintained a private practice of psychotherapy, helping patients with anxiety, depression and the major mental illnesses. More recently, her practice has expanded to include helping patients with chronic pain, chronic illness, and stress-related illnesses.

Dr. Grosso has memberships in various professional organizations. She is certified in Adult Mental-Health Nursing by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and also in Clinical Hypnotherapy by the American Society for Clinical Hypnosis. She most recently completed a certificate program in Biofeedback. She is a Clinical Member of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy. Dr. Grosso joined Nova in 2003.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Grosso believes in the total integration of mind and body. She joins with patients to help them attain optimum levels of wellness.

Jennifer Haas, MS, RD
Registered Dietitian

Jennifer Haas, MS, RD graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a master’s. Her thesis concerned trans fat use and revealed ways to lower and, in some cases, eliminate trans fats from currently manufactured food products without sacrificing taste. She also received her bachelor’s in Nutritional Sciences at Penn State. Jennifer completed her dietetic internship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.

Jennifer has worked at the Food and Drug Administration as well as at the National Institutes of Health’s Nutrition Department during the summers of her undergraduate studies. At Penn State, Jennifer gained research experience as an assistant in Dr. Barbara Rolls Ingestive Behavior Lab and as a metabolic cook at the General Clinical Research Center on campus. During her graduate studies, she worked as the consulting dietitian at her gym as well as the Center for Food Innovation, where she was the food sensory lab technician.

An active member of the American Dietetic Association as well as the Northern Virginia Dietetic Association, Jennifer keeps abreast of current nutrition research and findings. A runner and cyclist, herself, she encourages patients and clients to enjoy an active lifestyle everyday while eating fresh, unprocessed foods to fuel their bodies and brains.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Jennifer believes in the adage, "an apple a day keeps the doctor away!" Her mantra corresponds to her approach to diet, exercise, and overall health goals. She believes in using food as medicine and focuses on disease prevention and medical nutrition therapy when appropriate.

Holly Harris, MD
Board Certified in Family Medicine

Dr. Harris was born in Orlando, FL and received her undergraduate degree in Microbiology from the University of Florida. She obtained her medical degree from Howard University before completing her training in Family Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA.

Dr. Harris joined Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center, Inc in September, 2008.

Cynthia A. Hawkins, FNP
Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Cynthia received her master’s in nursing from East Tennessee State University in 1994. For seven years she worked as a provider and served on the faculty of the Residency Program at Providence Family Medicine in Anchorage, Alaska. Having grown up in Roanoke, Virginia, in 2007 she moved to Northern Virginia to be closer to her family and joined Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center.

Cynthia has extensive training in occupational health and Cardiac Stress Testing as well as being certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, a member of the ANA and both the Alaska and Virginia Nurse Practitioner Associations.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Cynthia believes in treating patients with respect, compassion. Listening attentively, and providing the best care possible while incorporating cultural beliefs.

Margaret Dupree Hobson, M.D.
Board Certified Dermatologist

Dr. Hobson received her undergraduate degree in Medical Technology from the University of Texas at Austin in 1988 and joined the US Navy the following year. After completing a deployment aboard the Naval Hospital Ship Comfort, she received her medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences at Bethesda, Maryland. She completed her internship at the National Naval Medical Center, and then served as a Naval Flight Surgeon for 3 years before completing Dermatology residency at Naval Medical Center San Diego.

Board-certified by the American Board of Dermatology since 2002, she served as Head of the Dermatology Divisions at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton and Marine Corps Air Station Miramar. After leaving active duty in 2006, she was a Dermatologist at Scripps Clinic in San Diego before joining Nova Medical Group in 2008.

Dr. Hobson is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She has been a speaker at several national medical meetings, given numerous dermatology lectures, and has been published in a number of professional journals. Her scope of practice includes medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. She speaks Japanese fluently.

Teerawong Kasiolarn, N.D., M.S.Ac., L.Ac.
Naturopathic Doctor
Licensed Acupuncturist

Teerawong is certified in Naturopathic Medicine by the Naturopathic Licensing and Examination Board with additional certifications in Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine. He is a Licensed and Nationally Certified Acupuncturist in the State of Virginia. He received his Bachelor of Science with Honors in Biochemistry at Arizona State University. He received his Doctorate of Naturopathic Medicine and Master of Science in Acupuncture in 2005 from Bastyr University in Seattle, Washington, the world’s leading academic center for natural health sciences and one of four accredited Naturopathic Medical Schools in the country. Teerawong is a member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians (AANP).

Prior to working at Nova, Teerawong served as the Naturopathic resident at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine (UBCNM) in Connecticut, Yale-Prevention Research Center (PRC), and the Integrative Medicine Center (IMC) at Griffin Hospital, a teaching facility affiliated with Yale University. During his residency program, he was able to integrate both Conventional and Naturopathic Medicines to treat acute and chronic diseases. He also provided a monthly talk about health promotion and natural treatments to the general public at the Integrative Medicine Center.

Allison Kitchen, LAc
Acupuncturist

Allison is a master level acupuncturist licensed in Virginia and Washington DC. Her undergraduate studies were completed at James Madison University. Her graduate work in acupuncture was completed at the Traditional Acupuncture Institute of Maryland.

Allison is Nationally Board Certified through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Her treatment skills cover a wide range of ailments, including working with patients with acute and chronic conditions both physical and emotional. She has an additional certification as an addiction specialist through the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association, concentrating in both drug de-tox and smoking cessation.

Allison believes in a simple approach to treatment planning, focusing on patient centered care. Steven P. Marshak, M.D.
Board Certified in Internal Medicine

Dr. Marshak was born and raised in Princeton, New Jersey and received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Georgetown University and his medical degree at the Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia.

Dr. Marshak became certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in 1998. Dr. Marshak is also a member of the American Medical Association and the Medical Society of Virginia. During college, Dr. Marshak minored in German, and he maintains a strong knowledge today. Dr. Marshak joined NOVA Medical Group and NOVA Urgent Care in 1998.

Dr. Marshak believes in working with his patients to achieve the best possible outcome for patient wellness and to develop long-term physician-patient relationships.

Holger Noelle, MD
Board Certified in Family Medicine

Dr. Holger Noelle was born and raised near Cologne, Germany. After completing a mandatory two-year military service in the airborne, Dr. Noelle began his medical education in natural medicine leading to a license in holistic medicine. He received his medical degree after completing a seven year program at the Justus-Liebig University, near Frankfurt, Germany.

After completing the surgical part of his medical education in Tel Aviv Israel, Dr. Noelle returned to Germany, where he worked for two years in vascular surgery. After receiving his medical license he moved to the United States with his wife, a native of Florida.

Dr. Noelle completed a U.S. residency program at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland in family medicine. He joined Nova Medical and Urgent Care Center in 2005 and is experienced in both holistic and traditional medicine. He enjoys treating patients of all ages.

He is married, has two sons and resides in Oakton, Virginia.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY

Medicine is an art, the art of finding the best way to improve a person’s life. Sometimes we find the right answer in holistic medicine sometimes in traditional medicine, but the real success depends on treating the whole person, not the just the disease.

LeAnna Oelrich, MD
Board Certified in Family Medicine

Dr. Oelrich was born and raised in Independence, Missouri. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from Washington University in St. Louis and her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. After completing her residency in Family Medicine at Florida Hospital in Orlando, she worked in a group practice for three years in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Dr. Oelrich and her family moved to England in 2002. While there, she volunteered with the Family Medicine department of the American Red Cross, allowing time to care for her two young children. She moved to Virginia in 2005 and joined Nova Urgent Care, where she enjoys treating patients of all ages. Dr. Oelrich is a member of the American Academy of Family Medicine.

Dr. Oelrich believes in educating patients and encouraging them to take an active role in their health.

Hannah E. Phillips, MD
Board Certified in Family Medicine

Dr. Phillips was born in Hull, England and immigrated with her family to Canada in 1985. She grew up in Montreal, Quebec and received both her undergraduate degree in Molecular Biology and her medical degree from McGill University. She completed her training in Family Medicine at Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts and is a member of the American Association of Family Physicians.

Dr. Phillips joined Nova Medical Group in 2007 and is especially interested integrative medicine, hospice care and women’s health. She enjoys treating patients of all ages and is fluent in French.

Dr. Phillips believes in a holistic approach to medical care with an emphasis on health and wellness.

Afzal U. Rasheed, MD
Board Certified in Family Medicine

Born in Hyderabad, India, Dr. Rasheed received her medical degree in 1989 from Deccan College of Medical Sciences in India. She then completed residency in 2001 at Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pennsylvania. Before moving to Virginia in July of 2007 and joining Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center, inc., Dr. Rasheed worked in family practice and urgent care settings in Washington D.C., Ohio and Delaware.

She is a member of American Academy of Family Practice and enjoys treating patients of all ages and ethnic groups.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Rasheed believes in providing quality compassionate care to patients through all phases of life. Patient education and actively involving patent in decision making are of great importance in being able to provide this type of quality medical care.

Joseph S. Skoloff, MD, FAAP
Board Certified Pediatrician

Dr. Joseph Skoloff received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and in 1970 his medical degree from The Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. After a year internship and two years of Pediatric Residency in Wilmington, Delaware he joined the U.S. Air Force for two years. Dr. Skoloff served as Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, USAF Hospital, Robbins AFB, Warner Robbins, Georgia, achieving the rank of Major. On completion of his Air Force obligation Dr. Skoloff participated in a Pediatric Cardiology Fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. After one year of the program he relocated to the Northern Virginia area and joined an existing Pediatric practice in 1976. He continued to practice pediatrics in Loudoun County until 2006 when problems with his back forced retirement. With his back resolved he wished to return to pediatrics, joining Nova Medical Group in 2009.

Dr. Skoloff was first certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in 1976 and voluntarily recertified in 1988. He currently holds positions as Assistant Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the Medical Schools of Georgetown, George Washington and the University of Virginia. He is a past Vice Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics and past Chairman of the Infection Control Committee at the Inova Loudoun Medical Center. Dr. Skoloff attended a one year partial masters program in Health Care Management at Marymount University.

Dr. Skoloff is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Board of Pediatrics and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Skoloff believes strongly in the combined power of parent and physician working together for the health of their children, and a mutual involvement deciding on course of treatment in a method acceptable to all parties, delivered in the most efficient and cost effective manner. He is an advocate for children everywhere and adheres strongly to the principles of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Samantha Taylor, MSN, FNP
Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Samantha received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from James Madison University in 2006. In May of 2009, she received her Master of Science in nursing degree from the University of Virginia. Her advanced nursing education was focused on family medicine as well as community and public health. She joined Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center in July of 2009.

Samantha is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners as a Family Nurse Practitioner and also is a member of the organization. She belongs to the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners and the National Scholars Honor Society as well.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Samantha believes that health is a collaborative effort between the patient and the provider. She places emphasis on wellness and disease prevention by treating patients with respect and compassion.

Sandra A. Valentine, MSN, FNP
Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Sandra joined Nova Medical & Urgent Care Center in 2007. She received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Georgetown University in 1995 and 1998 respectively. She is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center and is an active member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners.

Prior to joining Nova, Sandra has worked in both ambulatory and acute care settings. She has extensive experience and interest in both cardiology and pulmonary medicine. Most recently, she practiced at INOVA Loudon Hospital providing care to patients on the medical-surgical wards, telemetry unit, ICU, PACU and in the emergency department.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Sandra believes in promoting and optimizing wellness through patient education and by building a trusting patient – provider relationship.

Ran Yang, M.S.N., F.N.P.
Certified Family Nurse Practitioner

Ran received her undergraduate degree in Nursing from George Mason University and her masters in Nursing, specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner Program at George Mason University in collaboration with the George Washington University School of Medicine.

Ran is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurse Credentialing Center and is a member of the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners. She has extensive experience in nursing in a variety of settings, from occupational care to acute care at INOVA Fairfax Hospital. Ran joined Nova Urgent Care in 2005 and is fluent in English and Chinese.

PRACTICE PHILOSOPHY
Ran believes in listening attentively to her patients, individualizing their care by taking into account medical, social, economic, and cultural dimensions and empowering patients with appropriate information to make informed decisions regarding their care.
